As I wait for a cab outside the Comiso airport, I am kissed by the tender April sunshine.
I fear that I will be making the journey with an anonymous new had with a chemical scent and a rowdy young man.
Not so, I am greeted by an old white Beetle, driven by a disheveled curly-haired woman who seems to have come straight from a 68´s demonstration.
The car smells of orange (she has them dried to create natural perfumes) the jazz music matches the context well but is pleasant background in a conversation that seems to take place between old friends.
She asks me the reason for the trip, I only have a small yellow trolley with me, and I tell her that I´ve come to visit some properties, but alas I only have two days and 6 houses to see.
She asks me which is the first address to go to and I realize that I am giving her carte blanche, I ask her if she will be my guide and driver for two days.
The “why not“ was the answer I was hoping for, and so we head together to the first property.
I see why she chose this one first, it is a villa, directly overlooking the sea.
It´s not a glitzy and somewhat snobbish modern villa all crystal and steel, honestly it looks a bit like an old fisherman´s house with this slightly cracked exterior peel.
I pass through the boundary wall greeted by the serenity of seaside places.
The ground floor of the house is a large porch, we could say that this house is almost a stilt house.
At the moment, it does not look very exploited but I think that adorned with plants and with some sliding glass windows it will be the place for moments of contemplation and conversation. Here, one can sit with a good book or sip a cup of mint tea as the sun rises in the sky, painting the world in golden hues. In one corner a garage, unobtrusive and functional, ready to store cars and bicycles, symbols of daily adventures along the coast.
Of houses I generally look at light and space because home is an intimate place and should be personalized. Here, there is no shortage of light, and I immediately find my corner of paradise, a balcony overlooking the coast, where the waves gently crash on the shore and the scent of saltiness mingles with the fresh air.
The living room is airy designed to encourage conviviality with its open kitchen and various niches to create living and dining areas
