Today we are going to Piazza Armerina, a town in central-eastern Sicily located in the Erei Mountains at an altitude of about 700 m.
I must admit that I was unaware of the presence of this place and thought it was a square in Enna and not a true masterpiece both natural and artistic, known as “The City of Mosaics and the Norman Palio“ or “The City of 100 Churches.“
Our rendezvous is at the Duomo, the highest point of the city. From here unravels a series of medieval alleys among which we walk around enraptured, while to the right and left we are surrounded by Renaissance and Baroque palaces.
A wasp whizzing by just a few steps away from us makes us get our feet back on the ground and realize that we are in the 21st century .
Among these ancient palaces we spot the one where the property we are going to visit today is located, the result of a recent renovation that where on the first and second floor a large and modern apartment has been obtained.
Crossed the threshold through an ancient and austere wooden door, an elegant staircase covered in marble and ceramics from Caltagirone leads us to the second floor where from the large atrium develop the various environments starting from the living room, the large living area with American-style kitchen with a relaxation space and a splendid overlook where we can admire the famous balcony of Gagini and to finish a study room and the bathroom in fine marble.
The staircase that leads us to the sleeping area is another element that characterizes the whole house, marble and glass blend together in contrast between classic and modern extremely pleasant.
The second floor reflects the size of the one below, different instead in the layout and in
the slope of the roof. Here we find in fact the three rooms, one with a walk-in closet and the large bathroom finished in a more modern key but no less beautiful.
What to tell you, a few lines are not enough to describe in detail each room and the characteristics of the materials and finishes, what we do know is that if the center of Piazza Armerina is your destination your search will stop here.
