Chiara and Matteo had never really imagined themselves far from the city. She, an architect with a studio in Trento´s historic center, he, an environmental engineer engaged in projects between innovation and sustainability. Their life flowed between appointments, construction sites and evenings in an apartment that was now a tight fit for them. Then came a new life - their first child - and with him, a new desire: to be rooted, to have space, silence, horizon.
So the search for a different house began. They wanted it close to the city, but surrounded by nature, a place where they could reconcile work and family, where they could breathe. After many visits and a few disappointments, they found it: a single house in Ravina di Trento, right on the slopes of Mount Bondone, nestled between the woods and the sky.
The house is in the rough yet to be finished: a blank sheet of paper, to be written by four hands. They can decide everything. Maybe they´ll make it one big apartment on two floors, bright and open to the view and maybe with a big loft. Or they will make two units with a small detached annex, perfect for hosting their parents -- who live far away, outside of Trentino -- whenever they come to visit. Let´s not forget the garage, 150 square meters also available for the collection of Vespas of which Matthew is immensely proud.
But what won them over was the view. From the terrace and the large windows they overlook the entire plain of the Adige Valley, which opens wide and bright before their eyes. It is a sight that changes with the seasons, with the hours, with the weather. And each time, it leaves one breathless.
At first they were not used to so much silence. To so much greenery. But now they would no longer do without it. The forest that grazes their property has become part of their daily routine. Chiara dreams of designing a sustainable and beautiful space tailored for their family. Matthew, on the other hand, already has a small Golden Retriever breeding farm in mind, a desire he has nurtured for years.
Today they look forward with serenity. They know that they have not simply bought a house. They have found a place where they can build their future, step by step. A place that speaks of nature, love and roots.
